Examinations for Certification of Greek Language in Cyprus
In Cyprus, there are two types of certification exams in Greek language-
- Very Good knowledge of Greek Language
- Basic knowledge of Greek Language for immigrants and Foreigners
The Directorate of Higher Education-Examination Office conducts and manages the Certification exam in basic knowledge of Greek language and very good knowledge of Greek Language.
Certifications Examination Very Good knowledge of Greek Language
Candidates who have studied in the Greek public secondary school are required to undertake this exam in order to prove their level of command in Greek language. This exam indicates “Certificate of Success in Very Good Knowledge of Greek Language”. The exam determined the candidates’ ability to use the Greek language in written or spoken form spontaneously and fluently.
Structure of Exam
The exam has four parts:
- Writing - Written part
- Grammatical exercises - Written part: This part comprises of grammatical structure and syntactic.
- Oral Exam
- Reading and reading comprehension - Written part
Certification Examination Basic knowledge of Greek Language for Immigrants and Foreigners
This exam corresponds to level A2 of Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This exam indicates that the candidate can communicate in Greek language for simple and day-to-day activities or tasks, understand expressions of daily use, like basic personal and other related information, employment, shopping etc.
The basic knowledge of Greek language exam is held two times in a year.
